a cleaner and safer gym

98% OF OUR MEMBERS RATED US VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT WHEN IT COMES TO COVID MEASURES

Picture
Your safety, and that of our staff and self-employed PTs, is a top priority. In line with government guidance, we have implemented a number of measures and are making a number of changes to ensure that Elite Fitness Southend is a safe gym for you to workout.

During the time we have been closed we have also taken the opportunity to undertake a number of upgrades to the gym. From giving everything a fresh coat of paint, extending the gym floor, a thorough deep clean of the entire facility and becoming Southends only 24 hour community gym.

You can expect a much improved and slightly different looking Elite Fitness Southend, giving you everything you need for a great workout and an enjoyable visit.

keeping a safe
distance

Picture
We've created the space you need to work out while maintaining social distancing. The gym has been rearranged and clearly marked out, allowing enough space for you to move about freely. You may notice that we've had to remove a number of machines, however, we have managed to keep a significant amount still in use. We'll also control the numbers in the gym so it never gets too busy.

extenisve and frequent cleaning

Picture
Elite Fitness Southend will be deep cleaned every night with high-grade anti-viral disinfectant. We won't need to close for any amount of time to undertake this clean. The team will also carry out regular cleans throughout the day, so you can train with confidence.

self cleaning and hand sanitising stations

Picture
We've increased the number of cleaning stations around the gym so you can clean your kit before and after use, for added peace of mind.

You will be able to easily and regularly clean your hands during your visit, including on entry and exit to keep yourself and others safe.

GYM BOOKING
AND WALK IN GYM ACCESS

Picture
From 24 September it's a legal requirement for us to log the details of anyone who visits us.

Your entry to the gym will be automatically logged when passing through our entry gates using your membership card which will enable us to assist the NHS Test and Trace service without the need to book your gym session in advance.

Non members visiting us using a gym day pass or members who have forgotten their card will only be able to enter the gym during staffed hours only and will need to log their gym entry on arrival using the iPad at reception. Alternatively you can scan the QR code using your free NHS COVID-19 app.

Gym changing and shower facilities open

Picture
To minimise potential overcrowding in smaller areas of the gym and to protect the amount of time spent in the gym we encourage everyone to arrive and leave in appropriate gym attire wherever possible. (no work clothes or boots permitted)

The changing rooms, lockers and showers are open as well as the toilets. The middle shower will remain closed to maintain social distancing.

Please be alert and continue to follow social distancing when using Elite Fitness Southend.

one way
system

Picture
During gym reception hours we'll operate a one way system. Using the main entrance for gym entry and the fire exit off the main gym floor for exit.

Outside of gym reception hours the exits will remain closed and alarmed for security purposes. Please use the same entrance and exit during these times. Please remember to keep your distance when passing others.

questions about your visit to elite fitness Southend

what are the gym opening hours?

Elite Fitness Southend is a 24 hour gym remaining open all year round. Our reception hours are Monday - Friday 08:00 - 20:30, Saturdays 09:00 - 15:00, Sundays 09:00 - 13:00.

can i train with other people in the gym?

You must train on your own. You may train in small groups providing you all live in a single household or  support bubble. Please don't be offended if asked by a member of staff to confirm your household/bubble or to train separately. You may share kit but only if you sanitise your hands and kit each time you swap over. Spotting is not allowed under any circumstances. Please consider this when selecting what weights to use.

Will you be restricting numbers in the gym?

Yes. We will limit the number of people in the gym at the same time so you can keep a safe distance from each other. As one of the largest independent gyms in the area we are confident that you will very rarely experience any issues accessing the gym at the times you prefer.

WILL i need to book to get into the gym?

No. When accessing the gym your entry will automatically be logged allowing us to continue to assist the NHS Test and Trace service. Non members or members who have forgotten their card will need to log their entry on arrival using the Ipad at reception. Alternatively you can scan the QR code using your free NHS COVID-19 app. From 24 September it's a legal requirement to log the details of those who visit us. Anyone who is unable to log their visit will be refused entry.

how long can i stay in the gym?

We ask that you keep your time in the gym to an hour.

are the shower, changing and locker facilities open?

The changing rooms, lockers, showers and toilets are open. The middle shower will remain closed to maintain social distancing. To prevent overcrowding in smaller areas and protect the amount of time spent in the gym please arrive and leave in appropriate gym attire (no work clothes or boots) wherever possible.

Do i need to wear a face covering, gloves or use a gym towel?

Face coverings are required when entering/exiting the building, using the changing rooms, engaging with a member of staff or at reception (unless you carry an exemption card or display the sunflower lanyard). The use of face masks during exercise and when moving between stations are optional. We ask that no gloves or gym towels are used on the gym floor.

are classes still running?

No. We had to take the difficult and unfortunate decision to delay the return of classes. This is due to having to balance the social distancing of the equipment with the number of restrictions around classes.

will all the equipment be available?

No. Being one of the largest independent gyms in the area we are fortunate to keep a significant amount of equipment available. We have had to remove a few machines, but nothing that will affect your ability to have a comprehensive workout. A number of items such as mats, ropes, sled, boxing bags have been removed from the gym floor to reduce the number of the more difficult touch points. The AstroTurf will also remain closed for the purposes of exercise as we must keep it clear for a walkway giving you as much freedom to move around the gym as possible.

will the shop still be open and will you take cash?

Yes. The shop does remain open during staffed hours only. We do ask that payment is made by contactless card, however, where no other alternative is available we will accept cash payments.

WILL i still be able to use my personal trainer?

Yes. Personal Training can take place on a 1:1 basis or in groups providing the entire group is from one household. Personal Trainers will be able to provide safe, socially distanced sessions. No Personal Training sessions with groups who don't live together under tier 3 restrictions.

What will happen to my membership?

If you have continued your payments throughout you won't need to do anything your membership will continue as normal.

If you selected to pay part membership your account will revert back to the full price from your next payment.

If you chose to freeze your membership your Direct Debit will be moved to the next available date from reopening.

If you cancelled your Direct Debit at the bank you will be sent an email and text giving you the opportunity to reinstate your membership. If you are in contract and opt not to reinstate then the default process will recommence.

can i still freeze my membership?

If you're not ready to come back when we reopen you can request an additional freeze by contacting info@elitefitnessessex.co.uk

CAN I cancel MY MEMBERSHIP?

If you are out of contract and wish to cancel your membership you can do so by completing the cancellation form located at the bottom of the memberships page. Please note that all memberships do have a 30 day cancellation period.

are you taking on new members?

Yes. We are confident that due to the size of the facility, the measures in place and the hours that we are open that we are in a strong position to take on new members.
